Bird:  Bird is flat sandy coral island, 1500 metres in length and 650 metres wide, Bird lies at ca. 100 km north-west of Mahe, and can be reached in 30 minutes by plane.  Its name derives from the spectacular colony of marine birds (two million sea swallows Sterna Fuscata Nubilosa, as well as many other species of rare birds), that inhabit the island from April to October.

Here lives Emeralda, a giant turtle, over 200 years old, included in the Guinness Book of Records for its longevity.
